The International Polytechnic Summer School has barely finished, and the selection of participants for the winter one is already on. Based on their previous experience, the coordinators know that many foreign students are making their choices now. And they hastened to prepare: a detailed description of 16 educational modules is already on the Polytechnic University website.
Compared to the previous year, the number of educational programs at the International Polytechnic Winter School doubled. Of these, the flagship of the 2020 season is the “Plasma Physics” module. For the first time, Polytechnic University implements the educational programs of the winter school together with other Russian universities: the partners of SPbPU are RUDN University and NURI “MISiS”. The “Two Capitals” Winter School, as it was immediately christened, offers the participants a unique opportunity to study in two top Russian universities within one module: first in St. Petersburg, and then in Moscow.
School coordinators paid utmost attention to trending areas. This year HSAPST is realizing its own module Space technologies: basics, that is a great start for the summer space technologies module.
“In the winter season 2020, we plan to accept about 400 foreign students,” says Darina KLIMOVA, coordinator of the International Polytechnic Summer and Winter Schools. “Many participants in the Polytechnic University summer schools want to return to St. Petersburg and our university, including for winter modules, again. And, of course, we will be happy if, after graduating from summer and winter schools, the young people continue their studies in the main educational programs of the university”.
The programs of the International Polytechnic Summer and Winter Schools are also popular among Russian students who take part in them as tutors. A tutor is a curator, mentor and just a friend to whom foreign students can turn for advice. Tutors accompany guests from abroad throughout their stay in the city, and, of course, also receive training in the educational modules of the schools. For Russian students, this is a unique opportunity to improve their language skills, attend lectures by leading Russian and foreign experts, and gain invaluable experience in intercultural communication.
Traditionally, the curriculum will be supported by informative excursions to the largest enterprises of St. Petersburg and the Leningrad Region, as well as exciting cultural events. All programs of the International Polytechnic Winter School meet European requirements and standards. At the end of the winter courses, students will receive international certificates recognized abroad.
